Lady Gaga has spoken out about her controversial choice of dress made from real meat for the Video Music Awards. The pop star's fleshy ensemble, composed of cuts of raw steak, including matching head piece and shoes, has attracted criticism from animal rights groups. "Someone should whisper in her ear that there are more people upset by butchery than impressed by it," People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said. But the 24-year-old Bad Romance singer has sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to explain her theatrical get-up was not meant to offend. "Well, it's certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian. I, as you know, am the most judgment-free human being on the earth," Gaga said. "But for me this evening, if we don't stand up for what we believe in, if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones," the chart-topper said. However, she was vague as to which particular rights she had in mind. Holding up a recent Vogue Japan cover on which she wore a meat bikini, she said, "And I am not a piece of meat!"
